Chip music is any music made using or emulating the sound of vintage video game consoles,
computer hardware, and their sound chips. Chip music is often called 8-bit music, but even
though the two terms are related they don't have a one-to-one correspondence. The song to
the left was composed in a music tracker
program that emulates the sound chip of the original NES system.
